Two Bald Guys. Asking For Your Blood

Posted on

Strother Norman, a Horned Frog, and Chef Jon Bonnell, the man behind Buffalo Bros, Jon’s Grille, and several other local favorites, are teaming up for a simple but meaningful ask: show up.

Show up on April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Worth Hills at Pond Drive to give blood, support your community, and receive a wooden token redeemable for either wings at Buffalo Bros or a burger at Jon’s Grille.

At first glance, the “Two Bald Guys Asking for Your Blood” campaign might feel lighthearted. But behind it is something much bigger than a clever name or a free meal. It’s about showing up for people you may never meet.

Across North Texas, hospitals rely on a steady supply of blood every single day. When that supply dips, it doesn’t just create inconvenience, it can delay surgeries, impact emergency care, and limit what doctors are able to do for patients in critical moments. In fact, the American Red Cross has reported ongoing shortages, including right here in the DFW area, where hospitals have had to carefully manage limited blood inventory to meet patient needs.

At the same time, fewer people are stepping up to donate. Nationwide, blood donations have dropped significantly over the past two decades, even as demand remains constant. And yet, the impact of one person choosing to give is immediate and real. A single donation can help save up to three lives.

That’s where TCU comes in. This blood drive is more than an event, it’s an opportunity for the TCU community to live out its values of service, care and connection. It’s a reminder that even small actions can have a meaningful impact beyond campus.

Most donors won’t ever meet the person they help. They won’t know their story or what led them to need blood in that moment. But for someone in a hospital bed in Fort Worth, that donation could be the reason they get another chance.
