Six years in the making, TCU’s reimagined dining hall opens with eight stations, a refreshed patio and a menu shaped by students themselves
The doors are open, the ovens are hot, and the space TCU students knew as Market Square has a new name and a new look: BLUU Dining. Located in the heart of the Brown-Lupton University Union, BLUU Dining welcomed its first guests Aug. 15.
The transformation was six years in the making, beginning with conversations about what campus dining could become and ending with the final touches placed just before students returned for the fall semester. Construction crews broke ground in December 2025 and worked through the spring and summer, finishing in August 2026. But the real work began long before crews ever arrived.
Student designed menus
Before a blueprint was drawn, TCU Dining Services went straight to the people who eat here every day, students. They wanted to know what was working, what wasn’t, and what Horned Frogs wished they had.
“We conducted research to better understand our campus community wants and needs,” said Jude Kiah, Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Business and Operations. “Through surveys, focus groups and feedback sessions, we gathered insights on the cuisines, concepts, menu items and dining experiences students were asking for.”
What came back was specific: more variety, more flexibility, and more ways to eat well with only a few minutes between classes. That feedback shaped nearly every decision in the new space, from the flow of the room to the concept behind each station.
Eight stations, one new addition
Market Square offered seven stations. BLUU Dining has eight, each with a new name and a sharper focus.
- Dash – The express station, and the newest addition to the lineup. Built for students on the move, Dash offers grab-and-go artisan sandwiches and salads made fresh daily.
- Stacks – The deli, for build-your-own sandwiches stacked exactly the way you like them.
- Mix – The salad station, with fresh greens, seasonal toppings and made-to-order bowls.
- Bliss – The bakery, turning out fresh pastries, cookies and desserts.
- Slices & Twists – Pizza and pasta, straight from the oven.
- Showcase – International cuisine, rotating through flavors and dishes from around the world.
- Savory – Traditional entrees and comfort-food classics.
- Rise – The breakfast station, serving the first meal of the day.
Dash is the direct answer to what students asked for most often, a quality meal that doesn’t require waiting in line. Students can grab a chef-made sandwich or salad and be on their way without ever going inside.
New look, inside and out
The changes go well beyond the menu. Inside, the dining room has been outfitted with all-new furniture, offering a mix of seating for a quick solo meal or a long lunch with a full table of friends. New lighting throughout gives the space a brighter, warmer feel than students will remember.
The renovation extended outdoors, too. BLUU Dining’s patio (“The Veranda”) has been refreshed and outfitted with a temperature-controlled environment with fans; a welcome addition during a Fort Worth August, and one more reason to hang out and enjoy a meal with friends rather than head straight back inside.
Come see for yourself
BLUU Dining is open now and serving from all eight stations. Students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by, try the new concepts and make it part of the rotation alongside East End Dining and West End Dining. A meal plan is the easiest way to enjoy all three. Find the plan that fits your needs on the TCU Dining website.
