Dear Horned Frog Community,

I am excited to share recent organizational changes within Student Affairs that will enhance student-focused programming and services at TCU. Student Affairs has made the following changes to align its leadership, organizational involvement, and activities to support student success and enhance their collegiate experience. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with these new developments and learn more by selecting the links below.

Creation of an Intercultural Center, a new diverse and inclusive space providing co-curricular opportunities and support to students. Located on the first floor of the Brown-Lupton University Union behind the information desk, this is a place where all students are welcome to be their authentic selves while also appreciating and valuing others’ ability to do the same. The Community Scholars Program, Gender Resource Office, International Services, SGA, and Student Identity & Engagement are now located in the Intercultural Center. Learn more.

Inclusiveness & Intercultural Services is now the office of Student Identity & Engagement and keeps its mission to promote diversity, inclusiveness, and cultural awareness throughout the TCU community. Learn more.

The Counseling & Mental Health Center has moved to the 2nd floor of Jarvis Hall. In-person counseling sessions are now available in therapy suites that allow for physical distancing. All sessions are confidential and covered by tuition, students can schedule an appointment by calling 817-257-7863. Students with an immediate need can walk into the Counseling & Mental Health center between 8:30 am and 4 pm Monday – Friday, and a 24/7 counseling helpline is also available by calling 817-257-7233. Learn more.

Student Development Services has evolved into two new departments, Leadership & Student Involvement and Student Success. Leadership & Student Involvement will maximize the student experience through individual and community development focusing on First-Year Experiences, including Frog Camp, Frogs First, and First-Year Leadership Development, in addition to the Leadership Center, Student Organizations, Student Activities, University Unions, Service Learning & Academic Initiatives, and Experiential Learning & Engagement. Learn more about Leadership & Student Involvement here. Student Success supports students throughout their time at TCU by creating meaningful and high-impact programs and services. New programs include Peer 2 Peer Tutoring, a free tutoring program for all students covering a variety of subjects, and Student Success Coaching, which provides one-on-one success coaching with a trained staff member using a solution-focused model. Additionally, Orientation, Parent & Family Programs, and Transfer Services are a part of this new department. Learn more about Student Success here.

The office known as Campus Life has a new departmental name, Dean of Students. Staff continue to meet with students to assist in resolving issues that might impede success during their TCU experience. The office works with students and families during emergencies, is a liaison with faculty to help students with academic issues, and is a resource for students with general concerns or problems. The Dean of Students department recently updated the TCU Student Handbook, a guide that outlines student policies and procedures and highlights resources available to TCU students. Learn more.

The former Alcohol & Drug Education office changed its name to Substance Use & Recovery Services to better reflect the continuum of resources offered to students.   The department provides substance use counseling, consultation, and referrals to treatment, the Collegiate Recovery Community, and helps satisfy educational sanctions around alcohol and drug violations.  Substance Use & Recovery Services is located on the 2nd floor of Jarvis Hall.   Learn more.

Student Affairs continues creating opportunities for leadership and involvement that prepare TCU students to lead in their chosen fields. By making these organizational changes we create greater connections between academic and co-curriculum, student involvement, and college outcomes.
